April 2014 Luncheon - Cipriani Restaurant  - Viceroy Hotel - Miami . April 23, 2014
Sponsored by 2015 Honda Fit

By: Paul Borden, photos & videos by: Pepe Delfino

The nearly 30 members and guests who attended the April SAMA lunch at Cipriani Restaurant on April 23 got a preview of the 2015 Honda Fit.

Hiro Hamaya, Sr. Product Manager for Fiat, and Chris Naughton, Honda PR based in New York, gave the presentation with an assist from Sara Pines, our friend in Honda PR’s Atlanta office.

First introduced in 2006 as a 2007 model, the Fit is in its third generation with global sales reaching over 5.1 units, so it is a key vehicle for Honda.

The 2015 version is available in four trims (LX, EX, EX-L, and EX-Navi) with technology not usually found in the subcompact segment. It’s an extremely versatile vehicle with four seating modes (utility, long, tall, and refresh) to accommodate various passenger/cargo/stowage needs.

The four-cylinder engine is mated with the choice of a six-speed manual transmission or a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) providing mileage figures of 29 mpg city, 37 highway (manual) or 33/41 (LX model with a CVT) or 32/38 (EX, EX-L).

Other special guests were Lateefah Lintz, the new District Sales Manager for Honda for the Miami Area, and Abby Parks of Tony Sheffler’s Interstate 1 operation.

We want to thank Honda for the sponsoring the luncheon and for introducing the new Fit.

With President Bill Adam home ailing with flu and treasurer Marcello Serrato out of town on business, Vice President Paul Borden conducted what was a very brief business session.

He noted that members should expect to receive an email soon giving more details on the annual Topless in Miami event (June 12 at the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne) and assured members that though they will be assigned certain categories to score for the competition, they will still have the opportunity to drive and shoot videos of other models in the afternoon.

Secretary Pepe Delfino also thanked members for continuing to contribute items and links for the website.

Again, our thanks go to Sara Pines and all the Honda folks for taking time out to attend the luncheon.

Keep an eye on your email box for details on the May luncheon.

We look forward to seeing you there!
