The first monthly SAMA luncheon of the year was held on Thursday, January 28, at the 94TH Aero Squadron Restaurant and was attended by 30 members who discussed issues of interest to SAMA members.. SAMA President Pepe Delfino presided.

Three main issues were discussed, starting with the announcement of an award to honor the memory of SAMA founder Ron Beasley. A committee chaired by President Pepe Delfino will be working on criteria to determine the recipient of The Ron Beasley Award for Excellence in Automotive Journalism later this year.

Paul Borden confirmed that the annual Topless-in-Miami Presented by Haartz once again will take place at the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne on June 2. A new category, Best Panoramic, is being added to recognize vehicles with a full sunroof.

 Ride & Smiles is coming up February 27 at the Homestead Miami Speedway, and Bill Adam gave more details about the event. He noted that this year there will be more and exotic sports cars. Several SAMA members volunteered to help in the event.

Regarding the most important thing, the children, Bill told the members that this year more hospitals of South Florida will take part, meaning many more children and their families will get to enjoy the day.

The day before, Friday, February, 26th, many of the cars that will be used at Rides will be featured in a special car show at the Homestead Air Reserve Base.

Also it was discussed about the possible creation of a new yearly event for Vehicles 4x4 in the Miami Everglades terrain. The idea will be develop with the input of a members committee.
