MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 6, 2015) – The 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata has been selected as the “Star of the Show “ the 2015 Miami International Auto Show , it was announced Friday at the annual show luncheon hosted by the Southern Automotive Media Association (SAMA) and sponsored by Cadillac.

   A panel  of judges made up of SAMA members and headed by current Secretary and incoming President Jose “Pepe” Delfino  choose the all-new spunky little roadster from a field of over 1,000 vehicles from 40 manufacturers.

   The show opened Friday at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

   Other wining vehicles were the Nissan Murano as SUV of the Year,

the Volvo XC90 Plug-In Hybrid as the Green Vehicle of the Show, and Chevrolet Colorado Diesel as Pickup of the Year.

   The trophy for Best Manufacturer Show Display went to Hyundai.

   The Terry Jackson Memorial Award for service for the betterment of SAMA and contributions to the South Florida auto industry went to Al Garcia, vice president of operations for the Homestead-Miami Speedway, for his and the Speedway’s support of SAMA’s annual Rides N Smiles event.  Cancer patients and children with other serious health issues receive rides in some of the most exotic and luxurious cars available today on the Speedway’s road course.

   In addition to providing track personnel to aid in running the event, the Speedway has provided lunches for the children, their parents, and siblings since the event was begun seven years ago.
